Sony Pictures Television released this two-disc box set of TV movies starring Stacy Keach as Mike Hammer. Murder Me, Murder You and More Than Murder (both 1983) take place in the 1980s rather than the 1950s, and though creator Mickey Spillane wrote dozens of stories to choose from, these are both original teleplays. The films have an overripe feel; they lack the hardness of the novels and of films like Kiss Me Deadly. The dialogue is overwritten and the second-tier acting leaves something to be desired. Keach is pretty cool, however, and tends to have better luck with the ladies than did the Hammer of the written page.
