Island Fever 3 (2004)

Rating: 3 1/2 Stars (out of 4)

By Jeffrey M. Anderson

Buy Island Fever 3 on DVD.

It wasn't so long ago that Vivid Video was the king of the adult film industry; they had signed up the most gorgeous girls and produced the highest-quality films. But times have changed and now Digital Playground has moved to the forefront. Not only have the created a spectacularly beautiful film with Island Fever 3, but they have landed the industry's most promising star, Jesse Jane. Jane is such a dynamic presence onscreen that she makes the industry's other leading player, Jenna Jameson, look positively two-dimensional. (A recent poll named Jane the "hottest porn star of all time," and they weren't far off.) Shot entirely on the remote beaches and waterfalls of Tahiti, Island Fever 3 is a plotless, erotic affair made for couples. Its soft, lush treatment of sex without any severe close-ups, grunting or bad music will most certainly appeal to women.

DVD Details: Digital Playground is also making strides in their DVD packaging. The picture and sound on the regular DVD look great, but this two-disc set also comes with an HDDVD of the same film, a format which I do not currently the capacity to view. Extras include a feature commentary track and a half-hour making-of documentary. Both are amusing in their own right, but they definitely take the mystery and beauty out of the film. There is also a stills gallery and a collection of twenty(!) trailers for other Digital Playground features. The film comes with both 5.1 and 2.0 sound mixes.

Starring: Jesse Jane, Devon, Tera Patrick
Directed by: Joone
MPAA Rating: Adults Only
Running Time: 90 minutes
Date: May 13, 2005
