Packaged in their by-now familiar metal boxes, this latest
batch of "Disney Treasures" box sets is perhaps the least exciting so
far. Topping off the new batch is a second set of black-and-white Mickey Mouse
cartoons ranging from 1928 to 1935 (
Mickey Mouse in Black and White - Volume
Two), though none of the
individual titles jump out as anything exceptional. We also get
The Complete
Pluto - Volume One
in which Mickey's canine pal takes the lead. Usually he ends up tangling with a
bug or a garden hose or something silly while Mickey is off doing something
else. The disc contains a few theories as to why Pluto was always just a dog
and not a talking animal with human traits, like Goofy. Finally, there is the
first week of the "Mickey Mouse Club" TV show (The Mickey Mouse Club: October 3, 1955 - October 7, 1955), running just over five hours.
