Despite its $50 million budget, this extravaganza turned out just as badly as all those other, much cheaper Santa Claus movies. It's clunky and mawkish with an astoundingly bad use of "Joy to the World" as Santa first takes flight. David Huddleston stars, with Dudley Moore as a disgraced elf and John Lithgow as an evil toy maker. Anchor Bay's new disc comes with a commentary track and other goodies.
