By Jeffrey M. Anderson

One of Harold Lloyd's greatest films, Girl Shy is best known for its endlessly inventive chase scene that winds up the film's final 15 or so minutes. In the film, Harold is a nervous, stuttering fellow who pales at the sight of women but secretly writes a book on how to seduce them. On his way to the publisher he meets the perfect girl and manages to talk to her without any trouble. But of course, she rushes off to marry the wrong guy (a bigamist no less) and Harold must race across town to stop the wedding, using anything he can get his hands on, from horses to a fire truck. Seeing the film in a clean print with an appropriate musical score, fans will finally see that Lloyd was as brilliant a filmmaker as he was an actor, making sure each shot was clear, logical and beautiful.
