A snappy little 76-minute, black-and-white item, this film noir dared
to look at the dark side of Monroe's giggly sex appeal. She plays Nell
Forbes, a mentally unbalanced babysitter who fancies that her long-dead
fiancée is still alive. The great Elisha Cook Jr. (The Maltese
Falcon, The Killing) plays her uncle, an elevator operator in
the big hotel where the movie takes place. Richard Widmark (who had top
billing) and Anne Bancroft co-star.
