Teaching Mrs. Tingle (1999)

Famed screenwriter Kevin Williamson makes his directorial debut with his very first screenplay (written before Scream) called Teaching Mrs. Tingle. Formerly called Killing Mrs. Tingle, it appears that more than just the title was changed. A lot of things just don't add up in this story of a high school senior (Katie Holmes) who holds her history teacher (Helen Mirren) hostage over a bad grade. The movie feels unfinished and choppy. There is foreshadowing but no payoff. Even so, with its sophomoric dialogue and half-baked characters, I doubt this movie would have been much better in its complete form.
